Sit Back and Enjoy!

Sometimes our family gets so busy we forget to sit back and enjoy the beauty of summer in our own backyard. Sunday afternoon is a great time to relax. Our patio/yard is in full bloom and it's time to enjoy the moment. Movie night on the patio last night was great too, the temperature was perfect.

Summer Adventures

A few weeks ago we went ocean kayaking along Chuckanut in Bellingham. I had a great day with Jeff, Wyatt, and Alex. I was amazed by the beautiful beaches and scenery, and it included a yummy lunch and a good workout. The 2 foot swells were just like a roller coaster at Disneyland (splash mountain that is!).

Most everyone is touched by cancer in some way, it might be with family member, friend, or or acquaintance, they may be a survivor, in the fight, or in memory of that person. It just feels right to get out and do something about it and our town does it in a big way. This year Lynden Relay for Life raised $220,000! We joined our friend Karen's team and walked from 11pm-12M, it was a amazing to see the community come together for this event.

All about WYATT

We haven't been traveling lately because we have more important things to take care of, namely "WYATT"! It's been great to see him grow up this year, he's passed me in height, played his first season of Lacrosse, and graduated from 8th grade...moving on to LC High School this fall. Getting back to travel--We're taking off soon to our favorite golf vacation spot to relax. I'm sure Wyatt and his friend Alex will be gaming, long-boarding, and maybe join us for a round of golf.

Serious Shrimping

No, really they were serious...

It wasn't the "Deadliest Catch" in Alaska, more like the "Calmest Catch" in the San Juan islands. It was another great weekend aboard the "Hospitality", the girls had a great time relaxing, while the men did all the work. But as you can see it wasn't "all work - no play".

Brother Ken and his friend were out shrimping / fishing and we happened to see them. At the time of this picture they were looking for their shrimp pot, the tides were moving fast and pulling them under.

Adventures...just around the corner

Sometimes when you explore the local spots you can see and do some pretty awesome things. I've been busy with family and friends the past couple weeks going here and there and having a great time...

TULIP TIME
My girlfriends and I spent the afternoon at tulip fields in Skagit Valley. I've only been there a couple times before, it is so beautiful and it brings me back to my Dutch Heritage.

Jeff, Wyatt, his friend Alex and I took in the Seattle Marniers after their Lacrosse game in north Seattle. It was a fun game - "turn back time" night to 1939. Do you know what the team name was back then? The bat boy from the 1939 team was there, it was his 85th birthday!
